There is a difference between no evidence and evidence of no effect, and this subject is one where the two get swapped freely in both directions.

Agreed, with the usual condition: that holds for the average and this board is a collection of individuals. A population claim and a personal prediction are different things and get quoted interchangeably.

Genuine plateaus happen too, and the mechanism is metabolic adaptation plus a smaller body.

Thank you — that is the clearest version of this I have read, and I have read a lot of them. Taking it to my next appointment.

I read this differently from LipidDoc_ATL, on substance rather than tone. This treats a plausible mechanism as a demonstrated one. Plausible is where you start looking, not where you stop.

The figures, for anyone assembling their own picture. For anyone reading later: the numbers in this thread are worth checking against a primary source before you act on them, including mine. Half the figures circulating in this community trace back to a secondary summary that dropped a qualifier.

Moderator note: reminder that nothing in this thread is medical advice, and that clinical claims need a source. Carry on.
