I have used three payment routes and the only thing that changed with each was how much leverage I had when something went wrong.

So the question, as narrowly as I can put it: how people are thinking about the trade-off between reversibility and privacy, because you cannot have both.

Practical detail welcome, however dull — the duller the better.

Answering the narrow version, because the broad one does not have a single answer. The mechanism and the magnitude are separate questions. Agreeing that something happens says nothing about whether it happens enough to act on.

Ask again with the specifics and you will get a better answer than this one.

Agreed, and the size of the effect matters as much as its existence. Something real and small gets treated here as though it were real and decisive.

Can confirm. Same sequence, different timescale. The detail I would add is minor and it is already implied above.

From the other side of the consultation, briefly. It helps to say which part of this you are uncertain about. A precise question gets a precise answer; a general one gets everybody’s favourite anecdote.

If somebody has the primary source to hand I would rather cite it than paraphrase it.
