CRP reduction on cardiovascular risk — this is the lab result that excites me most: Baseline hsCRP: 5.0 mg/L (high cardiovascular risk) Month 6 hsCRP:…

I'm 48 years old and want to share my perspective on cardiovascular risk as an older member of this community.

My doctor was initially hesitant because of my age, but the SELECT trial included patients up to 72 and showed consistent benefit across age groups. We started at the lowest dose with closer monitoring.

10 months later: down 47 lbs, off lisinopril, A1C from 7.4% to 5.4%. My cardiologist is thrilled. cardiovascular risk is absolutely relevant for older adults — don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I want to bring up the cardiovascular angle on cardiovascular risk.

Thank you — that is the clearest version of this I have read, and I have read a lot of them. Taking it to my next appointment.

Positive "side effect" of cardiovascular risk: my blood pressure dropped so much that I'm now off losartan entirely! My cardiologist is thrilled.

If you're on BP meds and losing weight on a GLP-1, monitor your BP at home regularly. Hypotension symptoms (dizziness, lightheadedness when standing) mean your BP meds may need reduction. Don't wait for your next scheduled appointment — call your doctor.

My reason for being on this is cardiovascular rather than cosmetic, which puts me in a small minority in most of these threads.

Metabolic syndrome resolution on cardiovascular risk: I went from meeting 5 of 5 diagnostic criteria to meeting ZERO after 13 months of treatment.

The 5 criteria (and my journey):

  1. Waist circumference: 52" → 34" ✅ Resolved
  2. Triglycerides: 224 → 104 ✅ Resolved
  3. HDL: 36 → 56 ✅ Resolved
  4. Blood pressure: 144/94 → 122/76 ✅ Resolved
  5. Fasting glucose: 119 → 88 ✅ Resolved

Metabolic syndrome reversal is, in my view, the most medically significant outcome of GLP-1 therapy.

Moderator note: a post naming a supplier has been edited. Discuss suppliers in the review sections, not here. Report rather than reply if it drifts again.
