Thirteen weeks at the same dose with no change on the scale, and I have gone from assuming it was the drug to assuming it was me and back several times.

What I actually want to know is how to distinguish a genuine plateau from measurement noise and creeping intake, before changing anything.

Numbers rather than impressions, if you have them.

Plateau breaking story with a stall: I stalled at 207 lbs for 8 weeks. Tried everything — calorie cycling, increased exercise, more water. Nothing worked.

What finally broke the plateau: adding HIIT cardio 2x/week. Lost 10 lbs in the next 3 weeks. Plateaus are temporary — they always break if you stay consistent.

TrialTracker_MD has the substance of this right. The condition it depends on is worth stating. Genuine plateaus happen too, and the mechanism is metabolic adaptation plus a smaller body. A body 20kg lighter needs meaningfully fewer calories at rest and less to move, so the deficit that produced the first phase is arithmetically smaller now. The options are the honest ones — increase the deficit slightly, increase activity, or accept the new plateau — and escalating the dose is only one of them.

Same pattern here, and in the same order. I had assumed I was the exception until I read this.

Adding the clinical framing, because it changes how the question reads. The honest answer is that the effect is real, the magnitude is contested, and the individual variation is larger than either. Those three things can all be true at once, and most arguments here are two people holding different parts of that.

Amazing transformation! Starting at 287 lbs, I'm now at 162 lbs after 18 months on semaglutide 2.4mg/wk. These photos show my progress at months 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18. The body recomposition has been incredible — DEXA shows 23% body fat, down from 42%...
