Plateau breaking story with a stall: I stalled at 198 lbs for 6 weeks.

This is where I part company with the consensus forming above. The "it is your intake" reflex here gets tiring. Some people genuinely stop responding at a dose that worked, and telling them to track harder when they have already tracked is how people stop posting.

Happy to go further on any of that.

One concrete data point for the thread. One practical note: write down what you did and when, before you need it. Reconstructing a timeline from memory three months later is how people end up unable to answer the one question that would have resolved it.

Coming at HPLC_Greg’s question from a different direction. It helps to say which part of this you are uncertain about. A precise question gets a precise answer; a general one gets everybody’s favourite anecdote.

Happy to go further on any of that.

Following on from jason_sac26 — and this may be the naive question:

How would you tell the difference between that and the alternative explanation?

Closing the loop on my own question.

Rolling average over five weeks showed I had lost 1.6kg during my "plateau". The scale was noise and the tape had moved. I changed nothing and it resumed.
