The version of this that has an answer is narrower than the version being asked.

Coming at Dr.LipidDallas’s question from a different direction. Order of operations matters more than any single choice here: establish a baseline, change one thing, wait long enough for it to express itself, then measure again under the same conditions.

Adding the numbers, since they settle part of this. The boring version of this is the one that works, and the boring version is: measure a baseline, change one variable, wait, measure again under the same conditions. Nobody wants that answer and it is still the answer.

One thing that is still open after Dr.LipidDallas’s answer:

What did you change at the same time, and can you separate the two now?

Filing a mild objection. Mild because I might be wrong; an objection because nobody has addressed the case that does not fit. This treats a plausible mechanism as a demonstrated one. Plausible is where you start looking, not where you stop.

OP back with an update, since a thread like this is useless without one.

Coming back a few months on. It held. Nothing dramatic to report, which is the report.
