ApoB is the more informative number and it is cheap.

Before/after bloodwork compilation for the lipid panel — everything in one place for those who want comprehensive data:

CategoryMarkerBeforeAfter 14moChange
MetabolicA1C7.0%5.6%⬇️ 1.2%
MetabolicFasting Glucose13591⬇️ 30
LipidsLDL16897⬇️ 50
LipidsTriglycerides270125⬇️ 120
InflammationhsCRP7.50.8⬇️ 6.0

Every single metabolic marker improved. This is why I'm a believer in this therapy.

Following on from anders_CPH — and this may be the naive question:

Did your prescriber agree with that reading, and if not what was their objection?

Tracking labs for the lipid panel — here's the panel I get every 3 months and why:

  • CMP: glucose, electrolytes, kidney function, liver enzymes
  • Lipid panel: total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides
  • A1C: 3-month glucose average
  • hsCRP: inflammatory marker
  • CBC: blood counts, anemia screening
  • B12, folate, iron: nutritional deficiency screening
  • TSH, free T4: thyroid monitoring
  • Lipase: pancreatic safety check

Total cost with insurance: about $41 copay. Without insurance, request cash-pay pricing from Quest/Labcorp — usually $176.

Comprehensive lipid panel update relevant to the lipid panel:

MarkerBaseline6 Months12 MonthsReference
Total Cholesterol260215185<200
LDL165120105<100
HDL384757>40
Triglycerides240175115<150
LDL-P16801130930<1000

The triglyceride drop is the most impressive. My cardiologist reduced my statin dose based on these results.

Correct as far as it goes. The part it does not cover is what to do when the honest answer is "not enough data", which is more often than anyone likes.
