ish perspective: It's genuinely ironic that Novo Nordisk is headquartered in Bagsværd, Denmark, yet Danish access to Wegovy has been limited by supply issues. Here's the Danish situation:
- Ozempic is available with a læge (doctor) prescription. Covered by Sygesikringen (health insurance) for T2D after individual tilskud (subsidy) application through Lægemiddelstyrelsen. Patient copay after subsidy is typically 500-1,200 DKK per pen depending on your annual medication spending bracket.
- Wegovy launched in Denmark but was withdrawn in 2022 due to global supply constraints. It returned in late 2025 with limited availability.
- Private pricing without subsidy: Ozempic 1mg ≈ 1,100 DKK (~€148), Wegovy 2.4mg ≈ 2,400 DKK (~€322).
- Mounjaro approved but just entering Danish market.
The Danish system is good but the tilskud application process for obesity indication is bureaucratic. My endocrinologist at Rigshospitalet handled it.
